Why There Should NOT be a Bama/LSU Rematch.

I know, I know, they're the best two teams in the country.  Agreed.  BUT, here's the deal: Bama has (1) The best RB in the country, (2) the best defense in the country, (3) arguably one of the best coaches in the country (4) they played them in their own HOUSE!  It's exactly what Bama wanted!!  And they lost...in that house.  Now if LSU had lost 9-6, then they would have an argument, but Bama does not.  It's time to give someone else a shot.  Hell, give me Boise St. over Bama.

2011 SUPER BOWL Prediction Steelers/Packers

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Green Bay Packers -  Line Packers by 2.5
When I started thinking about the line I was thinking Steelers by 1 or 2.  It comes out and it's Packers by 3.  So they're saying the Steelers who have beaten Baltimore and the Jets, were 12-4 during the regular season, and won two recent Super Bowls are three point dogs?  Are you serious?  I just don't see it.  Green Bay has been impressive, but if not for a BJ Raji interception return, that game could have gone the other way and the Packers were very close to getting beat by Caleb Hanie.   Aaron Rodgers is a heck of quarterback, but so is Ben. Ben has the "it" factor in big games and always gets it done.  Aaron Rodgers, not so much.  I'll take the proven winners over the up and comers.  Pittsburgh 27 Packers 23.

Steelers/Jets & Bears/Packers Predictions

Jets @ Steelers - Line Steelers by 3.5
The Jets really impressed me by beating the Patriots in their own house.  This Steelers defense, though, is much better than the Patriots even though Baltimore put 24 on the board.  Polamalu had a bad night by his standards and I think this time will be different.  I just can't say I'm a believer in Mark Sanchez and Big Ben is a proven winner in crunch time.  I'll take the Steelers 27-17.  RESULT Steelers 24  Jets 19  Winner!

Bears @ Packers - Line Packers by 3.5
Rarely do you see a home underdog in the Division Championship game, but that's what we have.  The oddsmakers have the Packers going into Soldier Field and pulling it out.  I have to say I agree with them.  The Packers offense has been explosive and the defense continues to look great.  The Bears are certainly no slouch, I just have a feeling Clay Matthews and BJ Raji have a field day against this awful offensive line and force Cutler into a few turnovers.  Gimme the Packers 31-20.  RESULT Packers 21 Bears 14  Winner!

2011 Preseason NCAA College Football Top 25

1. Oregon - The Ducks will be good again.  Can they make another run?  And did Auburn show the way on how to stop them?  They get LSU in Game 1, and it could be an early exit for the Ducks.

2.  Oklahoma - With the return of Ryan Broyles, the Sooners will again be good on offense. The key will be can they replace Murray and Madu.

3.  LSU - We'll see just how important Patrick Peterson was to their team.  They lose Nevis, Ridley, and Toliver as well, though I think they are all replaceable.

4.  Alabama -  A ton of key losses on offense, but they should be quite good on offense.  You can count on a new starter losing a few games for you, especially if they go with the RS Freshman Sims.

5.  Stanford -  Luck is the real deal, now let's see him do it again.

6.  Wisconsin - The strong running game will have to carry them with a new QB taking the helm.  They will still be solid though.

7.  Oklahoma St -  I personally think Blackmon should have gone pro, but he and Weeden will get it done again.  It wouldn't surprise me to see them win the Big 12..11..er 10?

8.  Boise St. -  I'm not a Boise St. fan, but Kellen Moore is a surgeon, give the kid some credit.

9.  Ohio St -  Would have them higher, but the suspensions may loom large against Miami

10.  South Carolina - Jeffrey, Garcia, and Lattimore will only get better this year.  Should win the East again.

11.  Auburn -  You don't just lose possibly the two best players in college football and expect to be the same team.

12.  Florida St. -  My sleeper pick.  E.J. Manuel finally looked like the recruit he was supposed to be.  Jimbo Fisher will have a solid team next year.

13.  Arkansas -  The fifth SEC team on the list could challenge for the West.  Tyler Wilson takes over at QB and he's pretty good.  Greg Childs will be back as well.

14.  Nebraska -  Taylor Martinez moves the Big 10...11.  He's way too inconsistent for my tastes, but when he's on, he's incredible.

15.  Texas A&M - The move to Tannehill mid-season was obviously the right move.  He'll be back along with Cyrus Gray.  Should be a solid team again.

16.  Michigan St. -  After that shellacking they took in the Cap One bowl, it's hard to give them props.

17.  TCU -  That relentless defense will be back, and in the cupcake conference they could go undefeated yet again.   They start with two tough out of conference games though.

18.  Virginia Tech -  Boy are they losing some offense.  If they replace them, they'll be good.  If they don't they're a 0.500 team.

19.  Mississippi St - Dan Mullen's got something cooking in Starkville.  Lost every big game they played in last year though.  I think they pull out at least one this year.

20.  Georgia  -  Aaron Murray's growing pains are gone.  The run game should be fine, but the security blanket is going to be in the NFL.

21.  Missouri -  Plenty of experience returning on the offensive side.  But they have to replace some guy at QB (<--heavy sarcasm).

22.  Notre Dame -  The Irish came on strong at the end.  Floyd is staying which was badly needed.

23.  Michigan -  Denard Robinson is ridiculous.  Too bad he doesn't play on defense.

24.  Florida -  There's too much talent in Gainesville for them to be that bad.  They never really had an identity.  I think they'll get it figured out.

25. Tulsa -  The Hurricanes return just about the whole team.  Experience means something in college football.

Jets Beat Patriots!!!

What a great win for Jets.  After getting their rear ends handed to them last time they showed up.  Sanchez was flawless, Brady was rattled and Revis was well...Revis.   I'm pulling for the Jets because of LT.  He's been a great players for a decade and he deserves it.  J-E-T-S!  Jets, Jets, Jets!

NFL Picks for the Weekend 1/15/11 and 1/16/11

Baltimore at Pittsburgh - Line Pitt by 3
I could easily see Baltimore going into Pittsburgh and winning this game, but I don't think it WILL happen. I like Pittsburgh to win, but this game should be close. I think the line is a push so I'd jump all over Baltimore as a teaser play. Gimme Pitt 27 Baltimore 24
RESULT Pitt 31 Baltimore 24

Green Bay at Atlanta - Line ATL by 2.5
Another game I could see the road team winning, and I think they will. We can't forget why Atlanta had a bye, because they're good. I just think that Green Bay has found enough of a running game with James Starks to keep the Atlanta defense honest. I like Green Bay to cover and win the game. Still I can't say I'm very confident, so I like Green Bay in another teaser play. I'll say Green Bay 27 Atlanta 20
RESULT Green Bay 48 Atlanta 21

Seattle at Chicago - Line CHI by 10
Nobody's got in an easier than Chicago, a bye, and then a STILL under 0.500 team in Seattle. I think Chicago will make Seattle realize why they only won 7 games in the regular season. I like Chicago in a blowout, 34-13.
RESULT Chicago 35 Seattle 24

NY Jets at New England - Line NE by 8.5
Well it probably won't be 45-3 again, but it could be. Tom Brady is clicking and Mark Sanchez is struggling. Advantage Patriots. It's in New England. Advantage Patriots. Did I mention Tom Brady? Advantage Patriots. I'll take New England 34-16 (three Jets FG's).

NationStar Mortgage is pissing me off

I know this is a sports blog, but I don't care. I recently had my mortgage sold to these crooks at NationStar, December 1st actually. Okay, no big deal. So I wait for them to send me info which BY LAW was supposed to be in my hands by Dec. 15th. So Dec. 16th, the calls started, twice a day. We need our payment. So I called them, and said they need to send my information before I pay them. I have to admit the girl on the phone was quite nice, and sounded really hot. So she marked it down that I had called. Didn't matter, them fuckers still kept calling. So on Dec. 21st, I finally received my information and sent my payment in. On Dec. 31st, the calls stopped. So now it's time for my January payment. On January 2nd, the calls started again. What the fuck, man!!! I've got until the 15th to pay. So on the 7th I sent in my payment and on the 12th the calls stopped. That's actually how I know that they received my payment is that I don't get harassed twice a day. So NationStar, quit pissing me off you assholes!!!

The SEC is better than you

So the Tigers brought home another BCS Championship to the SEC (I'm an Auburn alum by the way, so this is freaking awesome). That makes five straight for the SEC. This is really getting ridiculous. And what makes it all the more unbelievable is that it's been four DIFFERENT teams. It's not just USC, or Oklahoma, or Ohio State. That's just how the SEC is. The talent flocks to the SEC and it's a different team every year. You just don't get that with any other conference, it's usually one or two teams in any single conference that gets there every other year. That's why the SEC is better than your conference. I can't even name four good teams from any other conference, much less four potential NC winners. We are the SEC, and we're better than you.

Nevada vs Boston College Prediction

Current line - Nevada -7.5 O/U 54

Let me preface this with that I have only seen Nevada play once this year (against Boise St.) and only saw BC play a few times (one was against Clemson). Based on what I have seen, Nevada should win this game handily. Colin Kaepernick is the real deal and he'll be tough to stop. That said, BC's defense is not too bad, but I think it's just bad enough to lose by more than 7.5 points. I like Nevada to win this one 31-20. So I'm taking the under as well.

WTF Saints?

The defending Super Bowl champs versus a very below average team with a losing record all the while being 10 point favorites. Now tell me how does it makes sense that this game was played in Seattle? 10-6 team, 7-9 team. It should go to the 10-6 team. Time to fix that NFL, why give an advantage to a team that doesn't deserve it. BS if you ask me. But even so, WTF was that? The defense did not show up at all. We'll get em next year.

What is Andrew Luck thinking?

You know, I get the part about finishing your education, I really, really do. What I don't get is the fact that there's no way to improve on his draft status. He's going to be #1, now where will he go? Even if he goes #2 he'll likely lose a few million dollars which is way more than that 80K/year architect job will net you. And now to top it off, Harbaugh is going to San Fran. Seriously, Andrew Luck what are you thinking? Ryan Mallett thanks you.

2011 NFL Mock Draft No Luck

2011 NFL Mock Draft

1. Carolina Panthers - AJ Green, WR, Georgia
Well the Panthers will have to rely on Jimmy Clausen so they might as well get someone for him to throw to. Green is the pick.

2. Denver - Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU
The worst D in the league won't be able to pass on an elite cornerback. Could see Bowers going here, but Peterson is too valuable.

3. Buffalo - Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn
Buffalo needs to rebuild their entire defense, and where better to start than from the D-line. Fairley is a beast.

4. Cincinnati - Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson
Fairley and Bowers are 1 and 1A on the defensive front. Cincy wanted Green, but they'll have to settle for the best endin the draft.

5. Arizona - Ryan Mallett - QB Arkansas
Mallett becomes the best QB prospect in the draft with Luck not coming out. Way too high for him but Arizona is desperate.

6. Cleveland - Prince Amukamura, CB, Nebraska
Probably a higher selection than his talent, but to put him opposite Joe Haden makes too much sense.

7. San Francisco - Julio Jones, WR, Alabama
The Niners are desperate for a playmaker opposite Crabtree and Jones could be that guy.

8. Tennessee - Cam Newton, QB, Auburn
Cam is a lot like Vince Young was supposed to be. Kerry Collins is ancient. Time for some new blood.

9. Dallas - Robert Quinn, DE, North Carolina
Dallas needs desperate help at end. Quinn is an elite talent and should be able to contribute quickly.

10. Washington - Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue
The Skins need another playmaker other than Orakpo. Kerrigan has a motor like Clay Matthews and I think he's worked out okay for Green Bay.

11. Houston - Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama
The Texans would be thrilled if Dareus fell to them at eleven.

12. Minnesota - Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri
Some say he's the top QB prospect, I'm not 100% sold, but not a bad pick.

13. Detroit - Adrian Clayborn, DE, Iowa
Clayborn didn't have a great year, but the guy is a freak athlete. And the Lions need to load up on defense.

14. St. Louis - Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin
The Outland Trophy winner should be the best O-lineman in St. Louis once he steps on the field.

15. Miami - Jake Locker, QB, Washington
The Henne experiment is over. Locker brings a big arm and some athleticism to the QB position

16. Jacksonville - Jonathan Baldwin, WR, Pitt
Mike Sims-Walker and Mike Thomas are serviceable, but the Jags need a big time threat at receiver.

17. New England (from Oakland) - Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama
The Law Firm has done an admirable job in New England, but Ingram is a pure talent and will be a nice addition to the Patriots

18. San Diego - Stephen Paea, DT, Oregon State
The Chargers go with the best player available, and that player is Paea.

19. NY Giants - Von Miller, LB, Texas A&M
Miller is what I call a football player. Ridiculous instincts and has a nose for the ball.

20. Tampa Bay - Nate Solder, OT, Colorado
Solder is a big, big man.

21. Seattle - Aaron Williams, CB, Texas
With all of the top QB's gone, they tinker with the defense a bit.

22. Kansas City - Akeem Ayers, LB, UCLA
Derrick Johnson needs help and Ayers can be the that guy.

23. Green Bay - Cameron Jordan, DE, Cal
The Packers strengthen their already ridiculous defense with Jordan.

24. Philadelphia - Mike Pouncey, C, Florida
O line was a weak spot for Philly. Look for them to beef it up a bit with the addition of Pouncey.

25. Indianapolis - Drake Nevis, DT, LSU
Indy takes the best DT on the board with Nevis. A true run stopper that will allow Mathis and Freeney to do their thing.

26. NY Jets - Allen Bailey, DE, Miami
The Jets will more than likely go D-line and it's a toss up, but I'll say it'll be Bailey

27. Chicago Bears - Anthony Costanzo, OT, Boston College
Seriously, is there any doubt where the Bears will spend most of their draft picks?

28. New Orleans - Justin Houston, LB, Georgia
Houston is a versatile guy that can help right way. The Saints are very mediocre at LB outside of Vilma.

29. Baltimore - Brandon Harris, CB, Miami
How old IS Ed Reed? Harris is a raw guy but has some good skills

30. Pittsburgh - JJ Watt, DE, Wisconsin
He's a Steeler kind of player. High motor and good tackler.

31. Atlanta - Kyle Rudolph, TE, Notre Dame
Gonzo should be almost done. In steps Rudolph.

32. New England - Cameron Heyward, DE, Ohio St
As if New England needs two first rounders, they pick up a fine DE in Heyward with the last pick in the round.

2011 NFL Mock Draft

1. Carolina Panthers - Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford

Luck is a once in a while talent and with the team having a good need at QB, this looks like a no brainer. I could also see the Panthers throwing a curve and selecting AJ Green.

4. Cincinnati - AJ Green, WR, Georgia
TO, gone. Ochocinco, probably gone. AJ Green is a big time football player. I feel good about this pick.

5. Arizona - Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson
Fairley and Bowers are 1 and 1A on the defensive front. Fairly (no pun intended) easy pick for the Cards.

6. Cleveland - Prince Amukamura, CB, Nebraska
Probably a higher selection than his talent, but to put him opposite Joe Haden makes too much sense.

7. San Francisco - Julio Jones, WR, Alabama
The Niners are desperate for a playmaker opposite Crabtree and Jones could be that guy.

8. Tennessee - Janoris Jenkins, CB, Florida
The Titans have a few options to go here but I think Jenkins is the last elite CB on the board and the Titans should take him.

9. Dallas - Robert Quinn, DE, North Carolina
Dallas needs desperate help at end. Quinn is an elite talent and should be able to contribute quickly.

10. Washington - Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue
The Skins need another playmaker other than Orakpo. Kerrigan has a motor like Clay Matthews and I think he's worked out okay for Green Bay.

11. Houston - Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama
The Texans would be thrilled if Dareus fell to them at eleven.

12. Minnesota - Cam Newton, QB, Auburn
Can you imagine having Cam Newton, Adrian Peterson, and Percy Harvin all on the field at the same time. Good luck defenses everywhere.

13. Detroit - Adrian Clayborn, DE, Iowa
Clayborn didn't have a great year, but the guy is a freak athlete. And the Lions need to load up on defense.

14. Seattle - Jake Locker, QB, Washington
Are you kidding? How much of a lock is this pick? The hometown kid and not to mention the Seahawks QB's are terrible.

15. Miami - Ryan Mallett, QB, Arkansas
The Henne experiment is over. Time for a big time QB to come in and take over.

16. Jacksonville - Johnathan Baldwin, WR, Pitt

21. St. Louis - Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin
The Outland Trophy winner should be the best O-lineman in St. Louis once he steps on the field.

22. Kansas City - Akeem Ayers, LB, UCLA
Derrick Johnson needs help and Ayers can be the that guy.

23. Green Bay - Cameron Jordan, DE, Cal
The Packers strengthen their already ridiculous defense with Jordan.

24. Philadelphia - Mike Pouncey, C, Florida
O line was a weak spot for Philly. Look for them to beef it up a bit with the addition of Pouncey.

25. Indianapolis - Drake Nevis, DT, LSU
Indy takes the best DT on the board with Nevis. A true run stopper that will allow Mathis and Freeney to do their thing.

26. NY Jets - Allen Bailey, DE, Miami

30. Pittsburgh - Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma St
Pittsburgh lands which I consider the second best WR in the draft behind Green.
